Romantic and timeless, Victoria Sprigs recalls a young Queen Victoria’s 1843 floral embroidered silk dress, highly fashionable at the time. Newly married to Prince Albert, the design is steeped in elegance, perfect for creating a space that recalls stories of royal romances. Soft tones of rose pink and opal are paired with earthy greens, embroidered onto a classic 200-thread-count cotton percale base and finished with a refined knife-edge finish. Set includes Standard Pillowcase (no tie). Standard Pillowcase Pairs with tie fastening are available separately.
Inspiration
Inspired by a dress worn by Queen Victoria c1843, of ivory silk satin with a cream gauze overlay and embroidered panels of flowers and leaves executed in silk and metal threads in satin stitch.
Queen Victoria later gave the dress as a gift to the interior decorator John Gregory Crace (1809–1889) for his wife Sarah Jane Hine Langley (1815–1894), in gratitude for his role in the Great Exhibition of 1851, which he collaborated on with Prince Albert.
For Sarah Crace to receive such a personal gift from Queen Victoria must have been a great honour and token of friendship.
